Dorothy Mae Walker was the daughter of George W. Walker, Sr. and Kathryn B. Nahm.

She married Norman F. Kurth on 12 Sep 1953 at St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Amherst, Lorain Co., OH.

Dorothy was buried 24 Nov 2004.

DOROTHY MAE KURTH

Dorothy Mae Kurth (nee Walker), 79, of Amherst, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at The Cleveland Clinic following a five-week illness.

Born in Lorain, she graduated from Amherst High School in 1943 and has been a resident of Amherst for nearly 70 years. She worked as a secretary for more than 30 years. She worked for ITS in Elyria for 10 years and then for Douglas Manufacturing for more than 20 years, retiring in 1989.

She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst for more than 50 years and was active with Circle Six and Chi-Rho fellowship, Alter Guild and served as a church counsel member and secretary. She was also active in managing the church kitchen.

Mrs. Kurth also wrote for the SCOAgram for the Senior Citizens of Amherst. She was a Cub Scout den mother, an Amherst Band Booster and a member of the Board of the Amherst Library, charter member of the Amherst Junior Women's Guild Demole' Mothers Club. Mrs. Kurth was also an Amherst Hospital volunteer. She enjoyed flower gardening and cooking.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Norm Kurth; sons Darrel of Berlin Heights and Duane of Amherst; three grandchildren; and brothers George Walker Jr. of Bay Village and Robert Walker of Vermilion. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Walker and Kathryn (nee Nahm); and a sister, Sandra Muska.

Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst. The Rev. Mark Pemberton will officiate.

Burial will take place privately at a later date at Crownhill Cemetery in Amherst. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Peter United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 582 Church St., Amherst.

Arrangements are being handled by Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, OH 44001.
