AMHERST -- Alice Louise Henes (nee Lopatkovich), 86, of Amherst, died Monday, April 16, 2001, at Grace Hospital, Amherst, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 16, 1914, in Lorain, where she was raised. She had been an Amherst resident since 1928.
Mrs. Henes was employed as a cook for many years for the Amherst School System.
She was a member of Family Fellowship Foursquare, Amherst. She loved cooking, baking, canning, crocheting and gardening.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Waldemar Henes of Amherst; brother, George Lopatkovich of Lorain; and sister Catherine Lopatkovich of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Messerole; parents, John and Mary (nee Urchib) Lopatkovich; brothers Frank, Joseph, Michael, Steve and Charles Lopatkovich; and sisters Mary Linn, Sue Jostis and Margaret Lopatkovich.
Friends may call Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, where services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. William Mouer, pastor of Family Fellowship Foursquare, will officiate. Burial will be in Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst.
