MARGARET M. GREENSLADE

Margaret M. Greenslade (nee Mulder), 95, of Lorain, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at Community Health Partners in Lorain after a short illness.

Born in Campbell County, S.D., she was raised in Sheldon, Iowa, before moving to Amherst. She later moved to Lorain, where she had lived for the past 11 years. Mrs. Greenslade was employed as a designer by Zilch Flower Shop in Amherst for 40 years.

She had previously worked for 18 years with her husband managing the Cliff-view and later the Pinecrest Apartments in Amherst. She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst and had attended Congregational United Church of Christ, Amherst. She enjoyed crocheting, bingo, flower gardening and her pets.

Survivors include her son, Jan Longstreth of Amherst; daughters Diane Ferry of Lorain and Shirley Szewczyk of Amherst; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and great-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Thomas "Tom" Greenslade, in Oct. 1987; a daughter, Lois Brown; brothers Bert Mulder, Karl Mulder, John Mulder and Conrad Mulder; sisters Agnes Voerman and Anna Reichert; and her parents Louis and Kathryn (nee Schaffer) Mulder.

Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, where services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Attila Szemesi, pastor of Congregational United Church of Christ, Amherst, officiating.

Burial will be at Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst.

LORAIN -- Margaret M. Greenslade (nee Mulder), 95, of Lorain, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at Community Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a brief illness.

She was born Feb. 18, 1911, in Campbell County, S.D. She was raised in Sheldon, Iowa, before moving to Amherst. She had lived with her daughter Diane in Lorain for the last 11 years.

She was employed as a designer at Zilch Flower Shop in Amherst for 40 years. She previous worked for 18 years with her late husband Tom, managing the Cliffview and then the Pinecrest apartments in Amherst.

She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst and attended the Congregational United Church of Christ in Amherst. She enjoyed crocheting, bingo, flower gardening and her pets.
