Mrs. John Braun, of Church street, met with an accident that came near resulting in the loss of an eye. While pounding beef steak she accidentally struck a knife lying close by, which flew up in her eye. Dr. Smith, Of Cleveland, Mrs. Braun's physician, says he has hopes of saving the eye.

Mrs. Augusta Braun, 69, a resident of Amherst for the past 48 years, died at her home on Tenney-av Sunday night. Mrs. Braun was born in Germany but came to the United States at the age of 18.
She was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Reformed church and WBA. Rev. C. E. Schmidt officiated at funeral services held at the Zilch Funeral home Wednesday afternoon. Burial took place in Crown Hill cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, John; a son, Edward Mays; a brother, Ludwig Jonas, and sister, Anna Kopplow, both of Germany, and three grandchildren.
