      {Auguste Woyciechowski}

      Augusta Woiczechowski was born in Rosenberg, Rosenberg, West Preussen, Germany (now Susz, Ilawa, Warminsko-Mazurskie, Poland).

      She was baptized on 19 Jun 1864 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sommerau, Rosenberg, West Preussen, Germany (now Ząbrowo, Ilawa, Warminsko-Mazurskie, Poland).

      Augusta married August Gustav Raesler on 6 Jan 1886 in the parsonage of St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church in North Amherst (now Amherst), Lorain Co., OH. The marriage ceremony was performed by Rev. W.A. Walter.

      She was the mother of 7 children: William, Albert August, John, Emma Elizabeth, Frederick C., Henry Gustav and Lillian Augusta.

      After the death of her husband, in 1917, Augusta raised chickens to help support her family. And, you could always find crocks of sauerkraut curing in the basement.

      When I would visit, she and my Mother would speak in German. I'm sure it was to prevent me from knowing what they were discussing.

      Looking back, I should have been able to learn some of the German language, had I been paying attention. However, I was content just eating the kuchen and other baked goods Augusta always had waiting for me.

      Augusta died of a cerebral hemorrhage and was buried 8 May 1951.
