Stephen E. McCann Jr., 84, of Fayetteville, passed away at his home on Thursday. He was a native and life resident of the area and a graduate of St. Anthony of Padua. Stephen retired from Ward Baking Company, after 39 years of service and previously was employed at Vernon Downs. He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church and was an Army Veteran of World War II. His wife, Bernice, predeceased him in 1990. Survivors include his daughters, Sister Eileen McCann, CSJ of Silver Spring, MD, Sharon Gray of N. Providence, RI and Maureen Nicholas of Syracuse; sons, Stephen III of Fayetteville, Martin of Rochester and Barry (Donna) of Fayetteville; sister, Mary Ann Kimball of Syracuse; brothers, Timothy of Canandaigua and Daniel of Syracuse; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd. Syracuse. Services will be Monday, 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, DeWitt. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Development Office, Sisters of St. Joseph, 385 Watervliet Shaker Rd., Latham, NY 12110.
