Marion Dodson Albright was born February 21, 1849 in Alabama. According to his death certificate, his father's name was Orange Albright. Research shows only one Orange Albright in Alabama during the time the 1850 Federal Census was taken. Orange Albright and his wife Louisa were living in Bibb County, Alabama in 1850. Orange fought with the Confederacy during the Civil War, and died in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama on 27 March 1915.

Marion Albright is first found in the 1880 Federal Census for De Witt County, Texas, living with his new wife, Almeda, in the household of his father-in-law, Hiram Smith. Marion's occupation is listed as "farmer"; possibly he farmed his father-in-law's land. Marion was to remain a farmer all his life.

In the 1900 Federal Census for De Witt County, Texas, Marion is eneumerated along with his wife, Almeda, and with their sons Eugene (born Feb 1884) and Walter (born Feb 1889). According to information contained in this census, Almeda was the mother of three children, three of which were living at the time. It can be assumed that there is an older child not living in the household, possibly because of his/her marriage.

In 1910, Marion is shown, still in De Witt County, along with wife Almeda, and with Milton Albright and Velma Albright, who are designated as his son and daughter, respectively. It is possible that Milton and Velma were Marion's children from a previous marriage, because they are 30 and 25 years old, respectively, in 1910, but are not mentioned in the earlier census records. No further information about them can be found as of this writing.

In 1920, Marion and Almeda are shown living in De Witt County, next door to Almeda's 83-year-old mother Melinda and her brother Sidney.

In 1930, Melinda Smith has joined son-in-law Marion and daughter Almeda in their home in De Witt County.

On September 13, 1930, at his home near Cuero, Marion Datson Albright died, possibly in his sleep, at the age of 89 years. He was buried in Lost Creek (aka Nichols) Cemetery near Cuero, De Witt County, Texas.
