She leaves a loving legacy of 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Ruth left this earth for heaven after suffering from Alzheimer's for 10 years. The nurses who attended to her said she always had a smile for them. She is so GREATLY missed.
NOTE: Her maiden name, Pauley, was the legal name of her father, Edward, who had changed his name when he moved to Texas but was back in Missouri visiting when Ruth was born and was forced to give that name at the hospital when she was born. She was raised in Texas in a children's home where she was taken at age 9 due to abuse. Upon reaching the age to be able to leave the home, she moved to southern Missouri in 1942 where she met C.J. at a church box supper. They married after only two weeks of "courting"! Nine months to the day of their marriage their first child was born.
