Funeral Conducted For A.L. Cook

Funeral services for Adolphus Leroy Cook, 86, of Rt. 9, Lucedale, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 6 at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Oxner, Rev. Woodrow Byrd and Rev. John Edwards officiating. Interment was in Union Cemetery with Fails Funeral Service in charge.

Cook died Sunday, October 3 at George County Hospital. He was born March 25, 1896 in Marshall County Alabama and was a member of Barton Baptist Church.

Survivors include 14 children, Gladys Adcock, J.W. Cook, Natalie Kiser, Donald Cook, Laverne Rouse, Charles Cook, Raymond Cook, all of Lucedale; Audie Mae Patton, Purvis, Lucille Chamblass, Leakesville, Nilaree Plagens, Houston, Tex., Vernon Cook, Parkerburge, Va., Juanita Corley, Corpus Christi, Tex., Carlton Cool, Opelika, Ala., and Florence Jean Hardy, Petal; six brothers, Verg Cook, Henager, Ala., Richard Orbe Cook, Eight Mile, Ala., Johnny Cook, Boaz, Ala., Clinton Cook, Killeen, Tex., Clifton Cook, Kenager, Ala., and Melvin Cook, San Antonio, Tex., three sisters, Alma Smith, Albertville, Ala., Dela Mae Johnson, Boaz, Ala., and Gertie Campbell, Purvis; 46 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
