James Curtis Haney, 78, of Huntsville, passed away Tuesday.

Mr. Haney served in a fighter squadron of the Navy. He completed his studies at West Virginia University. He also was plant manager with PPG Industries. He was a state representative from 1991 to 2002. He served on numerous boards, including Alabama Supercomputer Authority, Statewide Health Coordinating Council, Huntsville Madison County Mental Retardation Board, Redstone Village, Space and Rocket Center Board, Ditto Landing Board, Salvation Army Board and others. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Rotary Committee of 100, Republican Executive Committee of Madison County, Republican State Executive Committee and American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Lou Haney; son, Curtis Haney; sister, Mildred Murray; sister-in-law, Pauline Barrick; brother-in-law, Jack Barrick and several nieces and nephews.
