Eddie Travis Bryant, 90, of Cisco passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at Valley View Healthcare Center in Eastland. A Graveside Service was held Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Carbon Murray Cemetery officiated by Brad Stephenson and under the direction of Kimbrough Funeral Home of Cisco. Mr. Bryant was born December 19, 1918, to Thomas Wesley and Minnie Dell (Coleman) Bryant in Gorman. He attended six years of school, but later received his GED. He dropped out of school to help his family make a living. He volunteered in 1940 to serve his country in the US Army during World War II and received an honorable discharge in 1945. Eddie worked at many jobs. He was a farmer, had his own Trucking Business, was employed by Burgess Industries as a spot welder, and worked in the Sheriff's Department as a jailer and at Lake Proctor as a park attendant. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Ettoy Seitern on April 20, 1946, in Eastland at the Church of Christ Parsonage. She preceded him in death July 21, 2007. They were blessed with two daughters: Jeanne Rains and husband, Bobby, of Cisco, Patricia Tone and husband, Steve, of Eastland; five grandchildren: Robert Rains and wife, Kay, Tim Rains and wife, Karen, Bradlee Rains and wife, Crystal, all of Cisco and Jason Tone and wife, Brandy, of Weatherford, and Stephanie Tone of Eastland; eight great-grandchildren: Leann Rains, Kaleb Rains, Taylor Rains, Cole Jones, Kelsee Rains, Carson Rains, Justin Hash and Haden Rains. Other survivors include a brother, Truman Bryant and wife, Wanda, and sister-in-law, Bertha Bryant. Two brothers, Troy and Adrian and two sisters, Gladys and Serena (Shug), preceded Eddie in death. His family and many friends will miss him greatly.
