Rites Saturday For R. P. Silvus
Funeral services for Rufus P. Silvus, 74, well known retired merchant, who died Thursday morning at 4:20 o'clock at Bethesda hospital following a brief illness, will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the late residence, 1848 Ridge avenue. Rev. A. Stokes Watson will officiate and interment will be in the cemetery at Beverly.
Mr. Silvus, several years ago, ran a dry goods store at Ridge avenue and Mead street. He was a member of Moxahala lodge of I.O.O.F. and had lived in Zanesville for the past 35 years. He was preceded in death five years ago by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Silvus.
The deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. C.J. Whittlinger, of the home, and Mrs. W.N. Dillon, of Cambridge, two brothers, Walter Silvus, Dallas, Texas, and Clarence Silvus, of McConnelsville, three sisters Mrs. Harry Robinson of Lexington avenue, Mrs. William Brenholtz, of Flint, Mich., and Mrs. W.L. Peregoy, of Pueblo, Colo., three grandsons, and two great-grandsons.
The body was removed to the late residence Thursday afternoon from the Seat funeral home.
