She is the daughter of Dea John Hart. She was the widow of Timothy Root when she married Rev Samuel Newell in 1749.

Old South Cemetery is also known as Bridge Street Cemetery. I think Farmington, or a portion of it, became Bristol, CT.

Esther Root, her daughter by Timothy Root died age 16 on 19 May 1760, is buried in the Newell family plot. So are sons Samuel d 1756, Lott d 1771 and Samuel d 1798.

"Mary Hart (Root) Newell's first husbsnd, Timothy Root, died in 1745/46 at Cape Breton, Nova Scotia in one of the French & Indian wars. His father Timothy Sr. also died at Cape Breton in 1713 in a previous expedition against the French" This paragraph was added at the suggestion of bob in Jan 2012.
