Note: At first glance grave marker seems to say died 1856, but a careful look (and supporting records) show Charles died in 1836.

Charles Henry Chitty was the fourth of ten known children of Benjamin Chitty Jr. (1743-1822) and Maria (went by Mary) Padgett (1746-1788), who married c1780 in presumably Maryland. Sometime after Mary died, Benjamin moved to Pennsylvania where he died.

Charles married Elizabeth Hekedorn/ Heckedorn/Heckadorn (1775-1824) in c1800 in presumably North Carolina though a marriage record can't be located for them. Charles and Elizabeth were the parents of five known children, namely:

1. Catherine Chitty Rominger Henning (1801-c1870/1880)
2. Charles Chitty (1804-1871)
3. Maria Chitty Spach/Spaugh (1806-1879)
4. Elizabeth "Betsy" Chitty Spach (c1809-???)
5. Lydia Chitty Shore (1812-1849)

Links to Charles' parents, wife, two of his five known children and four of his nine known siblings are included below.
