Etta Pearl Poynter Howard, 96 years of age, departed this life on Wednesday, March 4th, 2009 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.
Etta was born in Woodstock, Kentucky on January 31st, 1913, daughter of the late Luther Amos Poynter and Laura Belle Colyer Poynter. She was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress and a factory worker. She was a member of Woodstock Baptist Church.
Etta was survived by one daughter, Karen Rush; one brother, Noah Edwin Poynter; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Poynter, who departed this life on November 9th, 1948 and Laura Poynter, who departed this life on May 24th, 1959; her husband, Lester H. Howard, who departed this life on May 4th, 1993; two brothers, Clarence Everett Poynter and Otis Poynter, who departed this life on October 12th, 1910; and one sister, Sella Mae Poynter Smithern, who departed this life on November 22nd, 1999.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7th, 2009 in the Chapel of the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Griffin officiating.
Burial followed in the Woodstock Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky.
