John Clement Carter died in a hospital December 8 in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was a mortician for 35 years in Colorado Springs. He was the son of the deceased Marion and Lela Carter, near the Yell-Perry County Line, near Plainview.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel; one daughter, Sandra Cummings, both of Colorado Springs; four sisters, Dorothy McNeal of Colorado Springs, Beulah Magie of Independence, Mo., Francis Ford of Norman and Bertha Cross of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Allon Carter of Kansas City, Mo., and Elms (Pete) Carter of San Diego, Calif; and four grandchildren.

Funeral was held at the First Methodist Church, where he had attended and ushered for the last 25 years. Burial was by the Masons in Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs.
