Paul George Reiser was born in Denison, Iowa on November 26, 1952, the son of Joseph and Virginia (Munchrath) Reiser. He died at his home in Arion, Iowa on January 26, 2009 at the age of 56.

Paul Grew up on a farm outside of Denison receiving his elementary education at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Denison. He graduated from Denison Community High School in the class of 1971 and went on to study at Reisch Auction School in Mason City, Iowa where he received his diploma later that same year.

On July 8, 1978, Paul was united in marriage to Cindy Illg at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whittemore, Iowa. The couple settled on a farm outside of Denison and was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Mary and CarLee.

Paul began his sales career as an auctioneer at the age of nineteen. He auctioned farm, home, and city sales alongside his brother Denny and other local auctioneers. He continued working in sales throughout his life. In the early 1990's, Paul began Country Meats Distributing, his own meat distribution business. He later joined the automotive sales team of Gaughan Motors and then Adams Motor Company where he worked for the remainder of his life.

In his leisure time, Paul enjoyed gardening, farming, and socializing with family and friends. He was an ardent naturalist who loved country living. He spent a great deal of time planting and raising flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees. Often he experimented with different seeds and gardening techniques. Additionally, Paul was a sports enthusiast. He coached his daughters for several years in the Denison Girls Little League and Senior League softball programs. When he wasn't gardening or coaching, Paul was often reading. He was an avid reader of history, health, and gardening books. Aside from his daughters, his two loves were nature and sports.

Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia, and three brothers, Frederick, William, and Dean. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Reiser of Lincoln, Nebraska and CarLee Wadell and her husband, Eric, of Omaha, Nebraska; his father, Joseph, of Denison; three sisters, Glenda Mahaney and her husband, Vince, of Denison; Janet Reiser of Nevada, Iowa; Anne Lehmann and her husband, Bob, of Ames, Iowa; six brothers, Gerard, Allan, and Denny and his wife, Dawn, all of Denison; Brian of Des Moines, Iowa; Kevin and his wife, Kristy, of Bakersfield, California; Lt. Col. Daniel Reiser and his wife, Meghan, of Ramstein, Germany; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 30, 2009 at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, Iowa. Fr. Paul Kelly served as Celebrant of the Mass with interment at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Denison. Organist, Jean Cornelius provided the accompaniment for St. Rose of Lima Choir and soloists Bob Mages and Sarah Mahaney. Glenda Mahaney served as Lector; Darlene Reis and Larry and Becky Schwarte served as Eucharistic Ministers and Justin Reiser and Sean Houston served as altar servers. Those serving as honorary pallbearers were James Gaughan, Phill Watje and Steve Julin. Pallbearers were Eric Mahaney, Steve Reiser, Gene Reiser, Jim Remmes, Bob Adams and Jim Reiser. Thursday Prayer Services included a Legion of Mary Rosary at 4 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 7 P.M., at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at the Parish Center, served by the Altar Guild. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
