Sheryl Maureen Jones (ne Clash) of Country Club Hills, Illinois departed this life on February 5, 2009. Sheryl M. Clash was born on October 31, 1949, in Newark, New Jersey to the union of Vernon and Maureen Clash. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, James Andrew Jones, MD; sons Shane Andrew Jones of Brooklyn, New York and Jarrett Andrew Jones of Country Club Hills, Illinois; brother Vernon Wesley Clash, Esq. of Ewing, Township, New Jersey; uncle Charles Perkins and his wife Annette; cousins Henry Edward Goldston, III and his wife Constance, Virgil Roberson, Michael Roberson, Maureen Perkins, Dr. Vannette Perkins and a host of family, neighbors and friends. Sheryl attended Peshine Avenue Elementary School, Class of 1963; Weeqauhic High School (Newark) Class of 1967; Bennett College for Women, Greensboro, North Carolina Class of 1971. At Bennett, Sheryl attained a Baccalaureate of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. She taught at the Robert Treat Elementary School, which was later renamed Marcus Garvey Elementary School. Sheryl gained recognition as an accomplished educator in the Newark, New Jersey public school system.

She was a victim of murder.
