The funeral for Ms. Holly Petty Willis will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Pete Thomas, R. Winston Hargrove, Costello Grogan, Rodney Jones, Theodore Duffy and Troy Hardesty, active; Lewis Hudspeth, Earl Hudspeth, Perry Thomas Johnson, George Kenley and Eddie McPherson, honorary. Burial will follow in the Murray City Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home after noon on Friday.

Ms. Willis, 84, Spruce Street, Murray, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at 5:03 p.m. at West View Nursing Home.

Formerly employed by the Murray City Schools, Ms. Willis was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She worked along side of her husband, the late David (Dave) Willis, with his service on numerous boards and commissions through his service on the Murray City Council.


Preceding her in death were her husband, two sisters, Emma Petty Rutledge and Pearl Petty Dumas, and two brothers, George Petty and Frank Petty Jr. Born June 11, 1919, in Calloway County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Petty and Sally Cunningham Petty.

Survivors include one nephew, Robert Vernon Jones, Detroit, Mich.; grand nieces and nephews, Anita Crowe, Indianapolis, Ind., Doris Thomas, Cadiz, Fredricka Hargrove, Paducah, and Kenneth Jackson, Murray; two cousins, Barbara Wells and Udell Duffy, both of Murray; several grand nieces and nephews and cousins.
