Louvenia Vandiver 91, of 558 Vandiver Road; Island, Kentucky died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. Mary Louvenia Hopkins was born November 17, 1917 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Ben and Ethel Davis Hopkins and was married to John Henry Vandiver, Sr on December 31, 1941. She was a homemaker, a member of the Island United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with both her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Louvenia was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John H. Vandiver, who died May 12, 2007; by a grandson, Jeff Vandiver, who died March 28, 1986 and a brother, Aubrey Hopkins.
Survivors a son, John H. Vandiver, Jr and his wife, Jeannine of Island; a daughter, Nada Bradshaw of Island; two grandchildren and their spouses, Ken and Andrea Vandiver of Louisville and Amy and Brent Sawyer of Owensboro; and five great grandchildren, Sam Vandiver; Pen Vandiver; Wesley Sawyer, John Sawyer and Jack Vandiver.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Doug Kirtley officiating. Burial will be in the Island Community Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with the Vandiver Family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Sunday at Musters in Calhoun.
