Mr. Raymond "Big Boy" Howard was one of the finest gentlemen I have known, ever! He was truly a gentle giant. He drove the sherman tank my father commanded throughout his tour of duty with the 10th Armored Division in WW2 until one week prior to the Battle of the Bulge. He once told me he and dad were both angry when he was moved to another company. But he said, it was for the best, cause I would be in Hell today if it had not happened. As it turned out, everyone in dad's tank were killed except for Dad, and Mr. Howard said he was not prepared to meet the Lord at that time. Thankfully he and dad both prepared to meet the Lord. When I first met him, he said he never thought of Dad being a preacher during the war.
