Clifford E. Phillips, age 89, Punta Gorda, FL., formerly of Coatesville, passed away January 31, 2020 in Florida. He was born on November 1, 1930 the son of Olney and Hazel Figg Phillips. He had been a lifetime farmer. Cliff was a Army veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Louise Phillips; daughters - Cheryl Lynn Janssen and husband, John, and Susan Curtis and husband, Jim; grandchildren - Jessica, Cole, Michael, and Matthew; sister - Agnes Burroff; and several nieces and nephews.Clifford “Cliff” Earl Phillips, 89, Greencastle, was called to heaven on Jan. 31, 2020, in Punta Gorda, Fla.

He was born Nov. 1, 1930, the youngest of seven children to Olney and Hazel (Figg) Phillips of Coatesville.

Cliff was the beloved husband to S. Louise (Stienecker) for 61 years and she survives. He was much-loved father to daughters Cheri (John) Janssen and Susie (Jim) Curtis.

Cliff was a retired farmer in the Coatesville community. He served in the Army during the Korean War.

Cliff represented the area on the Clay County Rural Telephone Cooperative (Endeavor Communications) for many years. Cliff belonged to the Coatesville Lodge of Free Masons, he was a member of the Greencastle Christian Church and attend the First Christian Church of Fort Myers, Fla. during his winter months.

Cliff was a proud and loving grandpa to Jessica and Cole Janssen and Michael and Matthew Curtis. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. His sister, Agnes Burroff survives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Frank Phillips, Walter “Bud” Phillips and Herbert Phillips and sisters Lela Mae Smyth and Thelma Clugh.

A memorial service will be held in Indiana at a date to be determined in May.
