In 1847, he married Katherine Garfield in OH. They had one child, Joseph, who was born in 1848. Adam is in the 1850 US census record with his parents, a sister, and a niece, but without his wife and child. It is not known what happened to Katherine--i.e., whether she died before 1850 or they were divorced.
In 1859, he married Catherine Wells, a widow with three children. Catherine Wells and Adam Cramer had two children of their own: Mary Catherine and Bashby Melinda. The 1860 US census record is an interesting reflection of this blended family. In addition to Adam and Catherine, there are four children: Joseph (from Adam's first marriage); Elizabeth and Joseph (from Catherine's first marriage); and their daughter, Mary Catherine.
Catherine died in 1895 and Adam in 1907, both in Sauk County, WI.
