Robert Henry "Bob" Scadden

Robert Henry "Bob" Scadden passed away on Dec. 23, 2004. He was born on May 31, 1941 in Burro Canyon, Colorado, to Henry and Jennie Scadden. He was delivered in the bedroom of their ranch house by a local country doctor. On the ranch, the family raised cattle, and used some for milk. Once a week, they would take the cream and sell it to the creamery in Trinidad, Colorado. Bob learned to work hard at a young age. He attended a one-room school house right next to the ranch until the eighth grade. He graduated high school in Trinidad at the age of 16. After six months of college, Bob joined the U. S. Army. While stationed in Fairfield, he met the love of his life, Shirley Kay Westbrook. They were married Dec. 22, 1961. They had a daughter and a son. He worked for U.C. Davis for 37 years and then retired. He also worked part-time for Pisani's service station for approximately 35 years. He resided in Winters for 41 years. Bob was a very hardworking man all his life. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was known for his humorous sarcasm, his friendly attitude and his never-ending smile. He was also known for being there for those who needed him. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Scadden, of Winters; daughter Sherry Caskey and son-in-law Dennis Caskey, of Winters; son Robert D. Scadden, of Woodland; sister Alice Louderback and brother-in-law Odell Louderback, of Colorado; granddaughters Jennifer, Melissa and Kristy Spurling, of Winters and Destiny Scadden, of Oregon; grandson Keith Caskey, of Winters, and many more relatives. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the whole community, but always in our hearts. We love you Bob, Dad, Papa and Pops. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Winters, 512 First Street, on Monday, Jan. 3. The viewing will be at 10 a.m., the funeral at 11 a.m. A Graveside service will be held at the Winters Cemetery immediately following the funeral. A reception will follow at First Baptist Church.
