Vivian Irma (Semrow) Woody, age 80, of Coloma, passed away suddenly Thursday afternoon, June 26, 2008.
She was born December 4, 1927 in Coloma, the daughter of Emil Robert and Lorana (Glaske) Semrow. Vivian's mother died when she was very young and she was raised in the Coloma area for many years by her grandparents, aunts and uncles until her father remarried. Her family lived in the Fox Lake area until she married Robert Woody on September 25, 1948. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1978. Vivian and Bob were blessed with three children, Kerry (Terry) Woody, Milwaukee, Kris (Bob) Durnell, Santa Ana, CA., and the late, Robert "Duke" Woody. They resided in Germantown and Tinley Park, IL. before returning to Coloma in 1973.
Vivian was a Licensed Practical Nurse who received her training in Illinois. She will be fondly remembered throughout the area for her kind and caring ways. Vivian was a hospice volunteer for many years. She was
always willing to help families in their time of need and has many close friends as a result of her kindness. She would always be available if someone needed a ride to the doctor or clinic, needed medicine or groceries.
She was a faithful and active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Coloma. Vivian belonged to the church choir, altar guild and performed any activities that she felt were helpful.
She is survived by her children, Kerry (Terry), Kris (Bob), her grandchildren, Ryan (Annette), Evan (Erin), along with other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; one son, Robert "Duke" Woody; her parents; stepmother, Ethel Valenske; special cousin, Clarence Semrow; and special aunt, Leasetta Korn.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Coloma with Pastor Kelli Fisher officiating. Burial will be in the Prince of Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for St. Agnes Hospice/Hope, 114 N. Pearl St. Berlin, WI 54923 and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 325 N. Slater St. Coloma, WI 54930.
