Hubert F. Matthews Funeral on Wednesday
Canton---- The funeral for Hubert F Matthews 85 Russell Road , former dairy
farmer in West Pierrepont, will be held at 2pm Wednesday at the Lawrence Funeral
Home, with Rev Bill Mundell, pastor of the Beech Plains Church officiating,
Burial will be in the Beech Plains Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today at the funeral home. Contributions
may be made to the Canton Fire Department Ambulance Fund.
Mr. Matthews died Sunday evening in Canton Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.
Surviving are his wife Helen a son Larry Canton two daughters Mrs. Robert(Janet)
Burden, Goldsboro N.C., and Mrs. Joe (Edith) Bigwarfe, Star Lake; 11
grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; a brother , Hiram West Pierrepont,
several nieces and nephews.
A brother Heman and a sister Delight Gladys Matthews died previously.
Born in Pierrepont on Nov 29, 1902 a son of Forest and Edith Mae Fulton
Matthews, he attended the Selleck School in Pierrepont and also the Russell
school.
He married Helen Simonds Nov 10,1934 in Eben.
Mr. Matthews operated a dairy farm for many years in West Pierrepont. He also
held many other jobs, including guide and assistant guide for the Still water
Hunting Club for several years.
He was a past member of the Canton Club, Stillwater Hunting club, Beech Plains
Church and the Farm Bureau.
