Helen Marie Hodges was born February 2, 1922, in Mt. Ida, Arkansas, from the union of A.D. Plyer and Stella Mae Gray.
She passed away October 10, 2006, in Pflugerville, Texas, at the Pflugerville Care Center at the age of 84 years. Helen enjoyed socializing in the community, going to summer musicals, reading, and her pets. While living in Palestine, Texas, Helen was an active member of the Harvey Women's Club, Dogwood Garden Club, and the Newcomers Club. While living in Pflugerville, she was a member of the Senior Activity Center.
Helen is preceded in death by her brothers, Cecil and Huey Plyler. Helen will be truly missed by her beloved husband of 33 years, Henry Hodges of Pflugerville, Texas; daughters: Sue Roosa and husband Carl of Apache, Oklahoma, Linda Flagg and Stephen Carella of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Judith Kennis and husband Jesse of Pflugerville, Texas; sisters Theresa Cato of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Mildred Eddins of Durant, Oklahoma, Sheri Speers of Durant, Oklahoma, and Janice Maxwell of Dallas, Texas; brothers Lloyd Plyler of Durant, Oklahoma, Herman Plyler of Durant, Oklahoma, and Arthur Plyler of Sherman, Texas; grandchildren Kay Ann Heard of Lawton, Oklahoma, Mark Riggins of Lawton, Oklahoma, Tyler Dewvall of Wichita, Kansas, Sarah Dewvall of Pflugerville, Texas,and Julia Kennis of Pflugerville, Texas; great-grandchildren Whitney and Brittany Heard of Lawton, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews Don Hodges, Kurt and Susan Hodges, and Lisa Marcum.
Funeral services will be celebrated today at 3:30 pm in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home.
