Dan was an 18 year old living with his parents in Montague Co., Texas in 1900. He married Maggie Melissa Dow abt 1903. She was born Oct 20, 1882 in Coryell Co., Texas to James Dow and Margaret Nesbitt. Before 1906 Dan and his bride, along with his parents Louis H Wristen and Adaline B Hill, moved to Erath Co. Dan was a blacksmith.

The Wristens were blessed with a baby girl in July 1904, but her life was all too short. Little Winnie Wristen died too soon – two years – two months and twenty-seven days to be exact! Buried all alone in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Erath Co., Tx. She was born in the Hot Summer of 1904 to Dan Mayo Wristen and Maggie Melissa Dow and died Oct 2, 1906 of acute gastric catarrh (a disease due to wrong feeding).

The family lived two and one-half miles west of Bluff Dale at the time of the baby's death. The couple remained in Erath Co and had another little girl, Ruby M born about 1915. Wanderlust set in and by 1920 the couple moved on the Maricopa Co., Arizona where he rented and farmed. World War I Draft Registration Record, Maricopa Co., Arizona shows Dan was born 1 April 1882 and worked as a farmer in Mesa, Arizona.

Maggie's life was a life of hardships in that by 1930 she was divorced and living in Lometa, Lampasas Co., Texas. She rented for $5. She supported herself and her fourteen year old daughter by taking in laundry in her home. Her daughter Ruby married Ed M Barefoot in 1941 in Lampasas.

Dan M Wristen was the son of Lewis H Wristen and Addie Hill. He was divorced at the time of his death, but was husband of Maggie Melissa Wristen. Their baby Little Winnie Wristen 7/4/1904 - 10/2/1906 is buried Wesley Chapel Cem, Erath Co. Tx
