Kennith Eugene Melton, was born May 20, 1930, the son of the late Elzie Melton and Maude Hodges Melton at Billmore, MO. He died April 13, 2007 in West Plains, MO, at the age of 76.
He was united in marriage Dec. 6, 1952, in Bono, AR, to Laverne Parker who preceded him in death on Aug. 23, 2005.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country in the Korean conflict.
Besides being a farmer he enjoyed custodial work at Couch School for many years.
He is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Crowder and husband, Jim of Couch, MO; one son, Doug Melton and wife, Jan of Couch, MO; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Lee Melton and wife, Ann of Couch, MO; one brother-in-law, Walter Gammon of Bono, AR; a sister-in-law, Clara Melton of Walnut Ridge, AR; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers, Carl, Carthel, Clinton and Clifford 'Bill' Melton; and two sisters, Freecy Gammon and Freda Bowling.
Graveside services were April 16 at Cotton Creek Cemetery in Couch, with David Olbricht officiating. Services were by Carter Funeral Home of Thayer, MO.
