Sandra "Sandy" L. Hollingsworth, age 59, passed away peacefully at her home in Lodi on Monday, September 15, 2008.

She was born December 28, 1948 to Lawrence and Mildred (Roush) Granstrom in Dinuba, CA. Tragedy struck Sandy's family when she was 2 years old, her father passed away, leaving Sandra and her mother to take care of themselves. They moved to Castro Valley where Sandy graduated from high school and went onto Jr. College.

Sandy worked for Pacific Bell and that is where she met Ray Hollingsworth, "It was love at first sight" and they were married 6 months later on February 5, 1972 in Soquel, CA.

They moved to Palo Alto and Sandy continued to work for Pacific Bell until she gave birth to their son David in 1974, her career ambitions changed and she wanted to stay home and take care of her family.

The family moved to Oregon for a few years and that is where Kendra and Jonathan were born.
The family decided to move back to California in 1981 when Ray began working for Pacific Bell again. It was during this time that Mary and then Matthew were born.

In 1986 the family moved again to Amador County where they lived until 1997. The family's last move was in 2001 when they moved to Lodi and continue to reside there.

Sandy was an exceptional wife and mother; she home schooled her children for several years and was very involved in whatever activity they were doing. She loved to read and watch mysteries, listening to praise music, putting together puzzles. She loved to organize and plan everything. Her favorite places to visit were the coast, redwoods and mountains. She was a remarkable woman and will be greatly missed.

Friends are invited to attend a graveside service Monday, September 22, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at the Garden of Golden Memories, Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1765 Challenge Way, Suite 115, Sacramento, CA 95815.

Condolences may be offered via e-mail to the family at [email protected].
