Tscharner DeGraffenried "T.D." Watkins Jr., 74, of Midlothian, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Dorothy "Dot" R. Watkins; his son, Tscharner D. Watkins III and his wife, Jane; and his daughter, Elizabeth Watkins Lee and her husband, Greg; two grandchildren, Ried and Mason Watkins ; sister, Jeanne Watkins Hughes; and brother, Christopher D. Watkins . T.D. was a graduate of the University of Maryland and then served in the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps. He was past president of Watkins Nurseries and an active member in various local, state and national landscaping organizations. He received an award presented by former First Lady Nancy Reagan for landscaping the Japanese Garden at Maymont Park. He truly loved outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing and boating. He was former commodore of White Point Yacht Club and was often referred to as "Captain T-Bone". Dot and Bone loved to cruise the Chesapeake Bay and beyond on their boat called "Little Bone".
