Born on Abraham Lincoln's birthday, February 12, 1920, in a log cabin in Priest River, Idaho, Anita, entered into rest on February 22, 2009, at Avalon Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Atkinson and May (Dunn) and Smokey Williamson, her husband, Maurice Welter in 1980, and her brother, Donald Atkinson of Whitefish, MT. Survivors include her sister, Velma Brown of Kalispell, MT, sister-in-law Wilma Atkinson of Whitefish, MT; five children, Leo Welter (Gaye) of East Wenatchee, WA, Mary Anne Solberg (Gary) of Mead, WA, Dennis Welter, David Welter (Cheryl), and Alan Welter (Betty) all of Spokane, WA; 19 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Avalon Care Center.

Visitation will be held at Riplinger Funeral Home on Thursday and Friday, February 26th and 27th, between the hours of 9 am and 8 pm. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the CHAPEL OF FLOWERS, RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, 4305 N. DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA, with Pastor Bob Smith, officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assn., Inland NW Chapter, 910 W. 5th Ave., Ste#256, Spokane, WA 99204-2973
