News Commentator. Born Paul Harvey Aurandt, he was a radio legend who began his career in 1933 while still in high school. He became nationally syndicated for the first time in 1951, while working in Chicago. Known for his unique, staccato-style delivery of news combined with commentary, his style resonated with tens of millions of Americans for over five decades. His program was carried by over 1,200 radio stations and 400 Armed Forces Network stations around the world. He earned dozens of professional honors in the broadcasting industry. Among them he was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame, received the Paul White Award in 1992, the highest honor presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association; he was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005. His radio programs were produced by his wife, Angel, who is credited with creating his popular radio feature "The Rest of the Story."
