Another Pioneer Gone to Rest
It becomes our painful duty again this week to chronicle the departure of another landmark, and this time it is a mother of Isreal who has gone to her reward. Mrs. Bailey was born in 1833, and 1849 was married to John Bailey, in Georgia, and began life's pilgrimage together. In the early 50's they moved to Texas and settled on Caney creek near Perryville, where they had only a very few neighbors and these lived from 3 to 10 miles distant. In 1857, these two noble people were baptized into the Caney Creek Baptist church, and have lived true to their profession ever since. About 1880, Mr. and Mrs. Bailey moved from near Perryville to the Smyrna neighborhood where they have continued to reside, and where, on last Sunday, January 29th, at 1 P.M. the redeemed spirit of this good woman bid farewell to all of her earthly ties, and has gone to reap the reward of a well spent life. She was the mother of seven children and all of them were present at her bedside except one.
Her mortal remains were laid to rest in the Smyrna cemetery Monday January 30, and the funeral services were conducted by her former pastor and friend, Rev. S.H. Brooks, amidst a large throng of sorrowing relatives and friends.
Wh had known this good woman for 45 years, and when we say that she was a true type of American womanhood, we speak advisedly. She was among her fellow workers, and no doubt that her examples have aided in the moulding of many young women to high ideals of life.

She was a kind
and affectionate wife,
a fond mother
and a friend to all.
Sleep on Mother,
thy work is done;
Jesus has come
and borne thee home.
