Clarence Pick
Clarence Pick, 82, a well known resident of 106 Market Street, Mifflinburg, passed away on Wednesday afternoon September 8, 1965, at 2:40 p.m. at the Friendly Nursing Home, Inc., Millmont, R.D.1. Mr. Pick had been a guest at the home since November 21, 1964, and had been in ill health for the past several years.
A native of Union County, he was born in Lewis Township, on October 28, 1882, a son of the late Daniel and Sarah Brouse Pick. He was united in marriage in Laurelton, on May 13, 1905 by the late Rev. E. E. Sponsler to the former Anna Barbara Kahler, who survives. His death breaks a marital union of over 60 years.
Besides his wife, who is also a guest at the Friendly Nursing Home, he is survived by the following children: C. Leroy Pick, 229 North Front Street, Lewisburg; Miles D. Pick, Upper Darby; Rev. Fred D. Pick, 211 Maple Street, Mifflinburg, and the Pastor of the Mifflinburg Church of The Nazarene; Donald H. Pick, 213 East Chestnut Street, Miffinburg; Florence H., wife of Joseph Martelli, Vineland, N.J.; and Frances L. Pick, 106 Market Street.
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. George F. Mitchell, Millmont. Several brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Pick was a well known retired Union County farmer. He was a faithful member of The First Church of THe Nazarene, Market Street, Mifflinburg, and a member of the Men's Bible Class of the Church Sunday School
Relatives and friends attended funeral services on Satruday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from the Sanctuary of The First Church of The Nazarene, Spott and Market Streets, MIfflinburg. The Rev. Paul Cook, pastor of the Oxford Church of The Nazarene, Oxford, Pa; and The Rev. Fred D. Pick, pastor of the Mifflinburg Church of The Nazarene, and son of the late Mr. Pick, officiated. Interment was made in the Old Cedars Cemetery, Lewis Township, Union County.
A visitation was held from The James L. Schwartz Home for Funerals, Mifflinburg, on Friday evening after 7 o'clock. Mr. Pick's remains also reposed in the First Church of The Nazarene on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. till time of service.
Pallbearers were: Simon F. Chappell, Nestor H. Gill, NOrman Mull, Fred L. Sauers, Nestor R. Wert, and Paul E. Zimmerman.
