He was Sgt for Co. G, 22nd SC Infantry. His name is listed on a plaque of the men from SC at The Old Blandford Church. His entire regiment was killed except for two men. Though buried from the explosion, my ancestor's body was one of the first to be recovered.
He wrote letters home that he hoped to move to Virginia after the war.
