Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Whitson Funeral Home for Napoleon Payton Helms, 66, who died Sunday morning at the Cookeville City Hospital. The Rev. Carson Whitaker officiated with interment in the Tight fit Cemetery near Boma.
Mr. Helms was a retired farmer of the Burgess Community. He was a native of Putnam County and the son of the late Enoch and Maggie Sypert Helms.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Alabama Fuqua Helms; four sons; Edgar Helms, Peru, IN, Eugene Helms, Detroit, MI, Napoleon Helms, Jr., and Enoch Helms, both of Baxter; three daughters; Mrs. Bonnie Williams, Toledo, OH, Mrs. Dora Alice Rogers and Mrs. Ruth Waller, both of Baxter.
Note: Napoleon Payton Helms was the s/o Enoch Helms, s/o Hiram Helms & Ruth Young. Ruth Young was the d/o Mark Young & Ruth Raulston, d/o Rev'l War soldier, Matthew Raulston & Martha Moore. Mark Young was the s/o Rev'l War soldier William Young & Elizabeth Huff.
