Richtmyre was killed in action by small arms fire on 2-13-1966 while serving as a Light Weapons Infantryman {11N20} with Troop D of the 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. Spec. Richtmyre started his tour of Vietnam on August 16, 1965.

He is the son of Mr. Arthur R. Richtmyre of Chula Vista, California, and is a 1961 graduate of New Trier H.S., and he enlisted with the Army on 10-22-1963.

Awards: Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal.
