Mrs. Amanda Couts, wife of John Couts, died Saturday, December 8th, 1906. Her maiden name was McNarnes and she was born in Freeport Ohio, August 22, 1824, was united in marriage with Issac Couts Nov. 19, 1843. They have resided near Newcomerstown, Tuscarawas county, Ohio, during their married life of 63 years. To them were born twelve children, five sons, seven daughters. Of the daughters three died in youth, the surviving are Julia Hudson, Newcomerstown; Alice Snyder, Canal Dover; Cynthia J. Murphy, Bernice; Drusilla Casteel, Bernice. Of the sons George Clinton died at the age of 27 years. The surviving are William A. and Frank, at home; Amzi, Cambridge; John, Post Boy. There are twenty-seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Couts was a member of the M. E. church for many years and her funeral was conducted on Tuesday the 11th, by her pastor.
