PEARL RUTH MURPHY

(EUREKA TIMES STANDARD) Pearl was born November 28, 1928, in Dover, AR, and died February 15, 2009, in Arcata, CA.

She lived most of her life in Sacramento, CA. She was employed at Blue Diamond Almond Growers for 20 years. She loved to fish for steelhead on the Trinity River and trout on Beck Lake in Cody, WY. She loved to crochet and hunt for agates at Dry Lagoon.

Pearl was preceded in death by her father, Odes BRYAN; step-father, John E. LAY; mother, Delcie May (Branch) BARTEL; and brother John B. LAY. Her first husband, Myrel Dee TAYLOR whom she married in 1946 and her second husband, George Raymond MURPHY whom she married in 1960. Pearl was the mother of seven children: Shirley Spinella and partner Darrell Kjer of Arcata, Barbara Carter and husband Bob of Cody, WY, James Taylor and wife Lynn, Lequita Taylor, David Taylor and wife Sue, William Taylor and Kellye Murphy all of Sacramento.

Grandmother to Joey Newton, Dawn Carter of Cody, WY. Carl and Melissa Spinella, Jessica Taylor, Michael C. Taylor of Sacramento, Michael D. and Shelley Taylor of Woodland and Jimmy Taylor of IL.

Sister to Lois Warvi, Norman Lay, Linda Kjer and husband John of Arcata. Truman Lay of Hoopa and Sue Person and husband John of Libby, MT.

Also survived by her special niece Cheryl Williams of Sacramento and former daughter-in-law Rosemary Taylor of IL.Her little dog Chi Chi who she loved with all her heart. And a special little boy Tavis Kjer, who brought so much joy to her the last months of her life. Pearl also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Special thanks to Dr. David Gans and staff for the loving care they gave to mom.

A celebration of life will be held later this summer.

She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends. Ruth Murphy was preceded in death by her husbands Meryl Dee Taylor and George Raymond Murphy, her mother Delcie May Branch, her father Odes Bryan, and her brother John Lay.
