Timothy B. Bates, aged eighty-eight years, a retired farmer and father of Prof. H.L. Bates, of Caldwell, died last Thursday forenoon at his home in Cumberland, following a three month's illness from a complication of ailments. Mr. Bates was born and reared in Seneca Township, and has since his retirement from his farm he had resided in Cumberland, at which place he was a devoted and consistent member of the Methodist Church. The deceased is survived by his wife and two sons, Homer L. of Caldwell and Harold, of Cumberland. One brother Keller Bates, of Bedford, Okla., three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. R.L.
