Clarence Callaway Rites Were Held Here Monday
Funeral services were held at Redeemer Lutheran Church Monday, for Clarence Callaway, who died at Tabitha Home in Lincoln where he had lived for the past six years. The Rev. Henry C. Gittler conducted the service. Music for the service was by Donald Shaffer, soloist, and Mrs. Willis Bopp, Organist. Pallbearers were Myron Christensen, Clarence Heywood, Waldo Janssen, Clayton Liston, Glenn Miller and Donald Schwab. Interment was in the Hooper Cemetery. Wollmer and Warne Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
Clarence Callaway was born in Papillion, Nebr., October 4, 1885, and lived there until 1916, when he moved to Hooper. He farmed in the Hooper area until 1938, after which he worked for Roy Bott Implement Co. in Hooper, at the Scribner Air Base, and then for Clarence Heywood.
He married Hattie E. Kallenbach of Hooper on January 13, 1915, and she preceded him in death on March 12, 1948. Also preceding him in death were seven brothers and a sister.
He is survived by a son, Gerald C., of Bellevue; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Inez) Petree of San Francisco, Calif.; two brothers, Merle of Omaha, and Dewey of Springfield, Nebr. and two sisters, Mrs. W. A. Whisenand of Omaha, and Mrs. L. A. Griffen, Eugene, Oregon. The family requests that Memorials be sent to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hooper, of which he was a longtime member, or to Tabitha Home, Lincoln, Nebr.
