Dorothy was born Jan. 22, 1914, in Marshfield, the daughter of Nels and Cora (Nelson) Justesen. She died Feb. 5, 2009, in Portland.
She was a person of open mind and heart that led her to a lifetime of friendships with those from all walks of life. She and her husband, Roy, were beloved members of the community who shared their entrepreneurial success with others. Her love of travel led her to visit most of the United States and parts of Europe as well as extensive travel with her husband in Mexico and with her daughter, Lois, to the Middle East.
She was an avid bowler, belonging to local leagues throughout the years. She enjoyed reading, golfing and had a talent for gardening. She was a lifelong member of the Order of Eastern Star and past member of the local Eagles Auxiliary. She will be greatly missed by her granddaughters.
Dorothy is survived by her granddaughters, Debra Weyant of Portland and Michelle "Shelly" Weyant of New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Cora Justesen; husband, L. Roy Rouse; daughter, Lois A. Smith; son-in-law, Richard C. Smith; and brother, P. Christian Justesen.
The family suggests memorial contributions to South Coast Hospice, 1620 Thompson Road, Coos Bay, OR 97420.
