Albert Odell Avant, 69, died Sunday, September 9, 2007, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Avant was born in Georgetown County on March 8, 1938, a son of the late Oscar James Avant and Jessie Lee Tompkins Avant. He grew up in Georgetown County and was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School. Mr. Avant served in the S. C. Army National Guard. He lived in Oklahoma for a time prior to returning to Georgetown to live. Mr. Avant was a retired self-employed auto mechanic and a member of Daybreak Community Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Frances Norris Avant; a daughter, Marie (Kerry) Terry ; a son Al Avant; three sisters, Sue (Bobby) Garrison, Violet (Tony) Infinger, and Penny Avant; two brothers, Harvey (Eulene) Avant, and Bob (Patty) Avant; three special grandchildren, Cathy Shannon, J. W. Taylor, and Makaylah Avant; and four great-grandchildren, all of Georgetown.
Funeral services will be three o'clock Wednesday afternoon, September 12, 2007, at Daybreak Community Church. Officiating will be Dr. Virgil Courts. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Daybreak Community Church Tuesday evening, September 11, 2007 from six until eight.
