Mrs. Katie Lee Spradley, 88, a lifelong resident of Columbia County, died Tuesday morning in the Suwannee Valley Nursing Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Spradley was the daughter of the late Reuben Hugh Thomas Jr. and Florence Victoria Smith Thomas. She was a homemaker and a former member of the Lake City Woman's Club and the Lake City Garden Club. She was a devout member of the First United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women's Friendship Circle until her ill health. In her spare time, Mrs. Spradley enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry J. Spradley.
Mrs. Spradley is survived by her children, Harriett Hasbani (Dr. Joseph) of Jacksonville, Florida; Linda Culbreth (Gerald) of Tallahassee, Florida; Steve Spradley (Lorraine) of Lake City, Florida and Donald B. "Don" Spradley (Dorothy Ann) of Lake City, Florida; her sister, Lorene Davis and sisters-in-law, Minnie Bell Thomas and Elizabeth Thomas all of Lake City, Florida; nine grandchildren, Holly Peery (Rusty), Jacksonville, Florida; Suzanne Hasbani, Jacksonville, Florida; Ashley McLeod (Brad) Atlanta, Georgia; Kristen Craig (Lee) Tallahassee, Florida; Deidra Spradley and Shannon Spradley both of Lake City; Wesley Spradley (Adrianne) Ocala, Florida; Kelly Couey (Keith) and Bruce Spradley (Kim) both of Lake City. Fifteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other family members also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Spradley will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 28, 2009 in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Tate officiating. Interment will follow in the Corinth Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the chapel of the funeral home from 5-7:00 Friday evening. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church Children's/Youth Building Fund, 973 South Marion Ave., Lake City, FL� 32025.� Arrangements are under the direction of the DEES-PARRISH FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 458 S.
