Born near Alma, Kansas, Claude was the son of Henry Jacob and Rosana Elizabeth (Corey Greghardt) Adolph. He operated the family farm 5 1/2 miles west of Alma, moving to Alma in 1956. He semi-retired from the farm in 1990. He was parts manager and salesman at McInnis Ford Tractor for several years. He was the County Clerk for 18 years, retiring in 1976. In his early years he was also employed by REA Electric in Wamego, Kansas. He is survived by one sister, Mary Elizabeth Tolbert, two nephews, Keith C. and Dwight O. Tolbert. Two great-nieces, Terri K. Savage and Mary Ann Tolbert. Two great-nephews, Richard and Michael Tolbert and two great-great nieces, Stephanie A. and Ashley Tolbert.
Funeral services were on August 16, 1999.
