Ralph C. Colburn, Sr. of Willmington, DE, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2004 in Wilmington Hospital.

Born on December 26, 1928 in Wilmington, Ralph was 75 years of age.

Ralph was a graduate of Howard High School, served in the U.S. Army in Germany and retired after many years of employment with the State of Delaware.

Ralph was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church where he sang in both the Men's and Senior Choirs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Gladys Dobson Colburn; his brothers, William and Leonard; grandson, Chawan Colburn; wife, Barbara T. Colburn; and their 2 sons, Curtis and Bruce.

He is survived by his sister, Doris Berry, daughters, Diane Onley and Wanda Boston; sons, Craig Colburn and Thomas Mitchell; daughters, Janice Harris and Gladys Taylor; son-in-law, Thomas Onley; daughters-in-law, Barbara Colburn and Donna Colburn; many grand and great grandchildren; 1 aunt; several cousins; 3 sisters-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; several nieces, nephews and many, many friends, including lifelong devoted friends Ivory Collins, Robert L. Perkins and William Shorter.

A service will be held at 11 am Friday, May 7, at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 6th and Walnut Sts., Wilmington, DE.

Friends may call Friday 9-11 am. Ralph will be buried near his wife and a grandson in Riverview Gardens Cemetery, Wilmington.
