George W. Gwynn
Age 84, passed away peacefully January 17, 2006 in the Christiana Hospital.
Born in Wilmington, DE, Mr. Gwynn was a graduate of P.S. duPont High School, class of 1940. He served in the US Navy during WWII aboard the Hospital Ship, USS Refuge, in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. Mr. Gwynn retired from the DuPont Company's Chambers Work, in 1980 after 33 years of service. George was an avid golfer and a 50-year member of the DuPont Country Club. He loved music and was also a drummer with several local bands. His high level humor remained as his most distinctive personality trait.
He was predeceased by his eife, Esther K. Gwynn, who passed away in 1988. He is survived by a stepdaughter, Barbara Cook; 2 step-grandsons; and 4 step-great grandchildren, all of CA. He is also survived by a nephew, Robert P. Hines, Sr.; and several other nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2006, at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Sharpley, at 1 pm. Friends mya call 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the services in Riverview Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, 1501 Casho Mill Rd., Suite 1, Newark, DE 19711.
