June B Alexander, 94, of Dallas, formerly of Stamford, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007, at a Dallas nursing home.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at Kinney- Underwood Funeral Chapel with Rev. Calvin Gray officiating.
Interment followed in the Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home.
June was born on March 14, 1913, in Haskell County, Texas to the late Jim and Trentie Mae Phillips Miller. She lived in Haskell County as a young woman and married Willie Walton Alexander in Stamford on May 13, 1932. They resided on the Cannon Ranch in Haskell County where two sons were born. In 1946, they moved to Stamford where she became a Registered Laboratory Technician and was employed at the Stamford Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1983. Her smiling face brightened the halls of that hospital for 37 years. She and Walton moved to Highland Haven on Lake LBJ near Marble Falls in 1986. Walton passed away on December 19, 1994. in 2002, she moved to Dallas to be near her son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. June was known to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Momma June. She brought a ray of sunshine into all the lives she touched with her ready laughter and bright smile.
June was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years; one sister Mildred Tunnell; and son, James J. Alexander.
Surviving Mrs. Alexander are a son, Tom Alexander and wife Barbara of Dallas; three grandchildren- Steve Alexander and wife Laura of Dalton, Pennsylvania, Kirk Alexander of Dallas, and Judy (Alexander) Hinson and husband Jeff of Dallas; five great-grandchildren- Erin and Ava Alexander of Dalton, Pennsylvania, Samantha Alexander of Dallas, and Alex and Sean Hinson of Dallas; two sisters Joy Brown of Italy, Texas and Doris Strickland of Haskell; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Chicago, Illinois, or to a charity of your choice.
