Rachel E. Covey was the daughter of Rev. Russell Ray Covey and Rachel E. Davis. She married Solomon Smith Hudiburg December 5, 1860, in the home of her parents in Hardin County, Tennessee. Her father preformed the marriage ceremony for the couple.

She and Solomon would have eight children from 1861 to 1876: John Gipson (1861-1919), Joseph A. (1863-1934), Russell Ray (1864-1885), Mary Jane called Jennie (1866-1963), Jesse Walker (1868-1950), Nancy Elizabeth called Nannie (1869-1908), Rachel Josephine called Josie (1872-1947) and Solomon A. (1876-1942).

Rachel died in Olive Hill six days after her son Russell Ray. We do not know the cause of her death.
